Our property is located in the village of Jablanovec under the slopes of the Zagreb mountain Medvednica. On the one hand, the estate is surmounted by "Kameni svati", a group of rocks just above Jablanovac. According to folklore, the rocks were formed by the mother of a groom, dissatisfied with her future daughter-in-law, petrifying the wedding guests with a curse. The song "Kameni svatovi" by Augusta Šenoa, written in 1869, also speaks about that.
On the other hand, the view shoots over the gentle fields through which the river Krapina meanders. An ideal place to live and relax. Each of your SMS messages or E-mails will make us happy. ?For school children of lower grades, it is possible to get acquainted with meteorology at our meteorological station, the first and only one in this area.
You must be wondering why "Brankec" is the mascot of our property? A few years ago a little hedgehog came to our yard. We don't know why and how, but we called him Brankec. And so for years he would come and go from the yard. Whether it was the same, we do not know. But we always said "Brankec came again".
And finally, if you, dear visitor of our website, are a bit nostalgic, then the photo story on the page "Nostalgia" will remind you how people used to live in our villages, let's call them "Bistranjski kraj" ... all from Jarak, over Ivanec Bistranski, Jablanovac, Novak, Bukovje, Poljanica to Donja and Gornja Bistra.
You can watch videos from the pilgrimages of the parishes of Bistra and Ivanec-Jablanovec in 1990, 1991 and 2008 in Marija Bistrica on the VIDEO webpage.
There are few of us, and instead of "putting our heads together" as the wise Stjepan Radic once said, looking from the 19th century until today, politicians and priests have dismantled and assembled us. But in spite of everything, atill remain the common spirit of our people and the geographical connection of these villages located between the slopes of Medvednica mountain and river Krapina.
Young people do not know this and older people quickly forget that the land of all these villages between Medvednica and the river Krapina is in a unique cadastral municipality that has survived all local-patriotic attempts for separation in the last two centuries. Namely, the areas of all these villages are still in the cadastral municipality of the official name "Bistransko Podgorje".
Kind regards,
Jadranka and Ivan Lipak
